Love Bed Animation Problems
I've tried to intall the love beds available on this site, but the game crashes or I get Animation Missing, depending on what folders I move the files to. Per the readme files, I've tried every folder combination a couple of times with no success. My OS is Windows XP and I have The Sims Hot Date installed. Has anyone else had this problem with XP? Any ideas what I can try next? The .iff file is in the ...\download folder and the animation files (.cmx and .cfp files) are in the ...\skins folder (my last attempt to get it to work). Thanks.

you need Living large to use the love beds
follow these instructions
to install:
-----------
1.Create a NEW folder into sims/downloads folder and place ALL the files into it. Start the game if the bed works than your done if not than proceed to step 2.
2. move the XSKILL.cfp and CMX files to your gamedata/skins folder. Start the game if the bed works than your done if not than proceed to step 3.
3. move the XSKILL.cfp and CMX files to your gamedata/animations folder. Start the game if the bed works than your done if not than proceed to step 4.
4. move the XSKILL.cfp files to your gamedata/animations folder and put the CMX files into gamedata/skins. Start the game if the bed works than your done. Start the game if the bed works than your done if not than proceed to step 5.
5. move the XSKILL.cfp and CMX files to your ExpansionPack3\Animations folder Start the game if the bed works than your done. Start the game if the bed works than your done if not than proceed to step 6.
6. If you have the United States Version and have tried all the above but the bed still does not work than try putting the .cmx and the .cfp in theSims\ExpansionPack\ExpansionPackAssets\ Make the "ExpansionPackAssets" folder in "ExpansionPack" folder if you don't have it.
using:
--------
get a MALE sim to use the vibrate function on the LEFT side of the bed (where the pay box is just click the side where you see the pay box) now select another sim and click on the bed and choose JOIN, play etc.
for XP make sure to run in windows 98 compatibility mode. go to the sims folder, right click sims.exe and set it up in there.

It Still Doesn't Work
I had already tried all the folder combinations you replied with, but I hadn't tried Win 98 compatibility mode. That didn't work either. I took it a step further and installed the Sims and all its expansion packs through Hot Date, including Livin' Large, on a Windows 98 OS. There are no other 3rd party objects, skins, etc. on this installation and both, Red Velvet Doggy Style Bed and JDsVelvetNakedLunch fail to work with the same problem, Missing Animation! Just for laughs, I tried your objects on another Win 98 system with The Sims and all its expansion packs installed, and that didn't work either--Missing Animation! I even tried turning the video hardware accelerator off and reducing the colors to 16 bit, with no luck. So, after trying your objects on two boxes and three OS's, I have to conclude that your objects don't work--period.
Are there any other objects that your objects are dependant on? Could the zip files I downloaded be corrupted?
If you have any other ideas, I'd like to hear them, because I give up.

when you use the love bed do you tell a male sim to get in the side where the pay box is and use the vibrate option 1st?

Backup your working files. Delete the sims, then re-install it.
When all else fails, re-installing usually works

I tried that 3x already. I even went as far as not even re-installing Superstar since I thought that was the problem. (some if my downloads from other programs did not work with superstar)

i can't understand why they won't work. usually after moving the files around they eventually work. on my game i just drop everything into the downloads folder in a seperate folder and they work striaght away. i have all expansions.

I got the animations to work so far. On july 5, user free2rock had the same problem. Blade suggested to create a new folder in the downloads folder. I did and so far the love beds are working. I am still testing the other objects. (( )

i've just been informed of some new information. make sure to disable all virus scanners when installing any love beds etc. the virus scanner may think it's a virus and disable the files.

I already tried that, but it didn't help. I also tried killing any programs running in the background, and applied the patch for WinDVD (per The Sims Site). Thanks anyway for passing along the information.
Also, in a prior post, you asked if I clicked the side of the bed with the coin box. I did.
So far, the the only thing that seems to work is the shagging carpet or whatever it's called. Maybe that will give you a clue.

the shag carpet is a lot smarter than the bed it can detect what 2 sim sexs are on it and produce the correct animations. the beds however only have 1 set of animations and they always have to be in the same order. ok try this
move the animation , cfp and cmx files to the expansionshared folder. never done this b4 so we'll see what the results are.
